Empower is the only nonprofit across the globe offering a Mentor Program for bereaved children and young adults. Our Mentor Program offers year-round support to a child or young adult (through age 24) who has lost a parent by connecting them with a trained adult mentor who has experienced a similar loss.

Mentors are 25+ years old and have experienced the loss of a parent. Mentors make a 1 year commitment and spend time doing normal, everyday activities with their Mentee.

Empower Events are hosted throughout the year and on difficult days such as Mother’s and Father’s Day. These events foster community through peer support, reminding children and young adults that they are not alone in their grief.

Event activities are based on the children’s interests and range from indoor rock climbing and beach days to jewelry making and trips to sporting events, fostering community through peer support. At these events, kids can meet others like them who have experienced loss and know they aren’t alone.
